Show & Tell :: Tarte’s The Jewelry Box (Swatches)

8 Comments 08 December 2010

So I went ahead got a jump start on my list for Santa and picked myself up the Tarte Jewelry Box palette since I received my $15 Beauty Insider gift card from Sephora. I’ve had my eye on this one for a while and it’s so amazing!

The palette comes with 16 shimmer shadows, 16 matte shadows, a highlighter, a bronzer, and 5 long wear eyeliners. It is a limited edition set and only available at Sephora. It makes a great gift for the holidays! It even comes with a cute little necklace!

What Tarte says:

What it is:
An exclusive, limited-edition palette packed with 32 new eyeshadows, eight lip glosses, a mineral bronzer, a new shimmering powder, five deluxe long-wearing eyeliners, and a detachable necklace.

What it does:
This versatile palette is a veritable treasure trove packed with new and limited-edition products and shades along with such Tarte bestsellers as a full-size of Park Avenue Princess Mineral Powder Bronzer. As an added bonus, this festive jewelry box comes with its own “off the chain” gilded trinket, guaranteed to be your go-to accessory for holiday parties and year-round.

I’ve swatched all the eye colors, pencils and highlight/bronzer…

    Hi there,
I’m interested in this palette, and I’m curious to know… now that you’ve had it for a few weeks and you’ve presumably used it a few times.. What’s your overall satisfaction / rating of it? Do you feel like the eyeshadows have a good color payoff? Do you feel like they’re too sheer / muddy? I bought the Royal Collection and so I’m looking for more colors now and am just really curious how these colors pay off.

    blessings~

Oooh, I have one more question; Have you done any tutorials based off this palette?

Thanks for the comment, I’ll answer here too in case others are wondering as well. I love the palette, the pigmentation is higher for some shades than others, but they are all very soft and easy to work with/blend. I do find that because they are soft, you get some fall out. The value is unbeatable for the number of shades and amount of products that you get. I like the matte shades very much! There are some gems as far as colors, like the cranberry, copper, and olive colors!

I’m having a hard time deciding between this and the Lorac Box Office Sensation Palate. I’m looking for a variety of colors but I also want quality, value, and wearability. I can’t afford both right now.
    Any input?

I had a hard time deciding between the 2 as well! I went for Tarte for the amount of product per shadow and the quality of each color was a bit more consistent. Also I thought it would be better for travel. I love Tarte and Smashbox but I like the jewelry box better.
